Nurse Management System

Java-based application

This is a software-development team project for our Object Oriented Programming.

We are a member of four people and you can view the open-sourced files at
https://github.com/561Aloha/Metalife

The Challenge

Our professor assigned us a group project for a java-based application that implements at least 5 of the design patterns taught. We can only use Java and Java Swing.

My Responsibility

  • Designing the Graphical User Interface with their components.

  • Implemented their functionalities (example: filter/sort) and conducted usability tests.

Duration

1 month of implementation and a additional 2 months to create the program. (3 months altogether)

Application Walkthrough:

Impact

We were able to successfully secure a A in the course. The program is functional.

Key Learnings

I learned a lot about UML diagrams, like sequence diagrams. It was a great learning experience working with a team, and learning the core object oriented programming principles using Java.

What I would do if I had more time:

-  I would have liked to spend more time on functionalities like payment, building a profile, etc.

Some of the Tech I used

- Netbeans for running the project

- Visual Studio Code for writing code.

- Google Docs for documentation

- Figma for CRC cards, Sequence Diagrams.

- Github for collaboration with team members.

- Discord for Communication.
